We were not opposites
to be very sure
Just being elder
and taller
doesn't make one
opposite.. no?
It was just a matter of
degrees
you know
The ripples troubled us, nevertheless,
whenever we were together.
It was not love
No one would say it was
Attraction?
No
(Lust does not seem the right word.)
Curiocity?
May be
Yes
it seems a logical answer
May be we were curious
Children generally are
you know
Curiocity?!
I'm afraid now
Curiocity was not forgiven
The Apple proved too dear for Adam!
And it seems it's dear for me
(to be doomed to be lonely for life!)
A heavy price
to be sure
i don't know if i'm thinking correctly.... is this a lamentation for an inappropriate choice?
ReplyDeletewho is the persona in this poem? (your poems are getting more difficult to understand. there seems to be a strong undercurrent of autobiography (where isn't? )
no.. this is not about any inappropriate choice..
ReplyDeletethen explain " the apple proved too dear for adam!
ReplyDeleteand it seems it's dear for me
(to be doomed to be lonely for life! )
well.. you are free to interpret the poem the way you want to..(however i won't allow you to think that i have made any inappropriate choice)...
ReplyDeletei was wondering.. why was Adam punished? just because he wanted to know? the apple was the fruit of knowledge and he was forbidden to eat it.. but why?
and the other line means that we are alone in the thing that we know until we share it with someone.. and it is not always easy to do so.. you see.. if the other person is not on the same intellectual plane, he won't follow you.. he may even call you a mad person because to him your idea will appeare illogical.. remember the binery opposition of sane/insane? the power discourse and the lunatic asylum? everyone is lonely in his/her mind...
true. everyone is lonely in the mind. so true,, so sad.. so beautiful
ReplyDeletethanks Amrit!
