Stray white drops in the sky
White drops of your essence are spread across the sky
Numerous lives throbbing with the warmth to excite
Peeping at the world with sparkle in the eye
Expecting the welcome of a lotus to confine.

Fume of the dark horse surrounds the wild
Child of the white mud is dark and horrified
Tossing and toiling till it mingled in the wild
'I see stray white drops in the sky' it cried.

can't escape
the you
in me.
Though you sometimes hurts
it never leaves
me alone.
Suffering with me
the pangs
you grew
old enough to be me.
Rainbow
you shows me.

Horses came running
past you
past me
trod the bloom
they withered.
Smell remains
the perfume
i can feel it in my nose.
It is you.

The cotton
it touched my skin
coarse
spines
around your lips

Horses came running
past you
past me
trod the bloom
they withered.
Spines remain
piercing
i can feel it on my skin.
It is you.

WERE THEY RIGHT AFTER ALL??
One day i was watching wild dogs on Animal Planet. Dogs are social animals and they have a well-knit family structure. The children are looked after by every adult in the family jointly. There are various couples in the family. And there is one head couple of the family. This couple jointly takes decisions for all the family members and they are the king and the queen of the clan. Well, this is the structure all over the animal kingdom. What captured my attention was the fact that this couple does not breed and have no children of their own! It means they practice celibacy! (We can not expect dogs to use contraceptives of course!) This made me think of another fact. In the family of elephants it is the mother elephant that decides who is going to be the mate of her daughter. And yet another fact. There are some species of birds who believe in one love. Cranes, crows etc, it has been observed, are so passionate about their partners that they die in grief if their partner dies. They remain with the single partner throughout their lives like true soulmates. What does that mean? Are these really virtues- one love, loyalty, celibacy, the king and the queen?! It seems, we must think again before deciding what is natural and what is being imposed upon us through social constructs. It may be that the thing which seems to be imposed upon us by this social system was actually our natural instinct and not a forced thing!

(What's wrong with me??.. I used to love rebellion!!)

Don't i have the right to know
what lies behind your dark words
why is it that evry time
my desire to know you
crumbles down
in a heap of confusions
your words seem
the ghosts of the contempt
that you nursed
when all the while
i saw
a smile
that beamed on me
through your dark eyes..

You are the sky
And i loved you
Azure you shined, you invited me
I had my desire, my wings
I flew

You are the sky, so uncertain
Capricious you are and gloomy
You thunder and roar
And i am flying
Exalted I am and lonely.

Let's face it
You know you can not escape
You know it
You may create a hovel of your own
but your spirit has a tendency to grow
How will you curb it?
The fact is that
you are a human being
a homo sapiens
and it is your tendency to look beyond your physical existence....
Boy!!
you cannot escape.

It still haunts me
I had buried it, though
long ago.
It shrieks
deafening
my senses.
A numbness
spreads over my skin,
a convulsing numbness.
The weight of knowledge
it's suffocating...

We were not opposites
to be very sure
Just being elder
and taller
doesn't make one
opposite.. no?
It was just a matter of

degrees
you know

The ripples troubled us, nevertheless,
whenever we were together.

It was not love
No one would say it was

Attraction?

No

(Lust does not seem the right word.)

Curiocity?

May be

Yes

it seems a logical answer
May be we were curious
Children generally are
you know

Curiocity?!

I'm afraid now

Curiocity was not forgiven
The Apple proved too dear for Adam!
And it seems it's dear for me
(to be doomed to be lonely for life!)

A heavy price
to be sure

A Thing Of The Past

A thing of the past
Is not a thing of the past....
No matter how much you
Bathed in the everfalling spring of time
Impressions on soul, long do last..

Fancies were strong
And we followed the fancies,..
Life could not hold
The Secret from us,
Confused we were, and we were fast..

Memories so bitter, memories so sweet
A thing so confused...- our memories!
Long cherished dream
Repentence is withheld..
Memories make me live the moments again..
(With pleasure do I live!)
And the matter is no longer,
A thing of the past...

I read this poem in the newspaper several months ago and i really liked it...
The best poem of 2009
This poem was nominated by UN as the best poem of 2008,
Written by an African Kid

When I born, I black
When I grow up, I black
When I go in Sun, I black
When I scared, I black
When I sick, I black
And when I die, I still black
And you white fellow
When you born, you pink
When you grow up, you white
When you go in sun, you red
When you cold, you blue
When you scared, you yellow
When you sick, you green
And when you die, you gray
And you calling me colored?

Politically Correct

I wonder at the capacity of language to be a world in itself. How often do we try to find solace in linguistic constructs? The answer is always. What difference does it make when we call a half filled glass, half empty? It just shows what kind of view we are having of the world. But is it not possible to have an objective view of the world? Mahatma Gandhi was right when he said that even a scientist's view of the world is not objective. A scientist's view of the world is also subjective. This is the reason of the new scientific theories coming everyday. Various scientific theories have been propounded about the creation of the world. If it had been objective, it would have been unchanged.

Coming back to the language, we often have to be careful about the use of the language(as if it makes any difference!). We can not oppose a political view directly because by doing so, we would be politically wrong. But should not we try to be more objective, more direct in expressing what we feel? But, now a days being direct would not be very desirable I guess. Because many of the not so renowned or, being more direct, I should say some of the most hated people in politics are really direct in abusing and exposing each-other. And the experience shows that it was not very pleasant It came to be known as dirty politics. Being politically correct, I would not go into details and I would not give any facts. But it is sad that dirty seems to be direct now a days.

Finally, I can say that though we need to be true and direct more than being politically correct.. we will have to wait till the politics clears off of the dirt..

Gender and Transexuality

Gender is a construct of the culture that makes a distinction between men and women. The Compact Oxford Reference Dictionary defines gender as 'the state of being male or female(with reference to social or cultural differences).' Thus, it shows that more than biological aspects, it is the cultural aspect that defines a man or a woman. This fact has come to my focus after going through the traumatic experiences of some people who were confused in the gender divison of the society. The main troubles of those people who are biologically born boys are all related to cultural identities.. for example- they feel it very traumatic when they are not able to dress like a girl; painting the lips and nails crimson red is also one thing that they associate with womanhood.. those who are biologically born girls can do it but those who are boys can't. It is really surprising what great hold the culture has on our lives... a girl is not born with coloured lips and nails. She is not born with the dresses culturally provided to her. It is only a cultural burden that she bears... Simon de Beauvoir has rightly observed, "One is not born, but rather becomes a woman.... it is civilisation as a whole that produces this creature." This phenomenon completely invalidates the word transexuality. It is just the matter of choice.... what cultural role one wants to play...

Fading colours of a Rainbow
Chanced to peep at me;
Halfhearted
Through the concrete reality of modern machanised existence....

Hardly enough to colour
My fragile dreams, they mock
My weak-willed race of madness
Leaving me to friction with the square reality.

Beauty does not haunt me anymore
As it used to...
Alas! for my desperate desire
To reach out to you who are real!

I woke up only to find
The rainbow faded....

A bud was forced to open its petals...
It was supposed to be a flower
But did not look like one....
It saw a butterfly and fell in love
The butterfly could take no notice and
It kept pining......

i

am you

beyond

the ether

you

your eyes avert

speaking

words

love

care

affection

anger

is one

constructs

You denied me feelings....
I was not the rose
That you loved and threw
I was not the moon
That you liked for a day
I was not the river
That you desired and drank

When I longed for you
You flew
When I liked you
You saw the patches and condemned
When I moved to you
You became indifferent
And remained away...
